Warm Apple Cough Soother
This is a great Autumn recipe and comes just in time for someone I know that is suffering from a nagging dry cough. The warming spices in this recipe are especially good for clearing a cough and for blocked sinuses. I hope you find it to be helpful and delicious!
Take advantage of the apples in harvest right now as freshly harvest produce contains more nutrients that produce shipped from afar and that is older. If you can, grow your own or go to a local u-pick farm to harvest your own. You can even press some of your own juice and can it for later use.
Ingredients:
1/2 ounce fresh ginger root, sliced in 1/4 pieces
1 stick of cinnamon
3 clove buds
3 black peppercorns
2 cardamom pods
Directions:
Place in a pot and cover with 1 pint of water. Bring this to a boil and then simmer for approximately 15 minutes, covered. Strain the beverage and add honey to taste.
Drink some of this beverage every two hours, diluted in warm water.
Enjoy!
