PAY-IT-FORWARD

For decades, it has been a dream of mine to run or participate in a Community Supported Healthcare program where people can Pay-it-Forward. to those in need. I’ve wanted to help my community live better and have better access to good health. Since opening Body Temple Wellness in Snohomish, I have wanted to do this even more and it is finally happening.

Touch of Kindness is a Community Supported Healthcare program is a dream come true.

What is Community Supported Healthcare?

In this instance, it is where you and I work together to support others in our community who may not have access to therapeutic massage. It is a “pay-it-forward” program where folks donate a sum of money towards someone else receiving care. It can be $5 or $500. It will all go towards giving someone in our community therapeutic massage. Isn’t this great?!? Yes, it really is!

So who get’s these massage sessions?

That is a great question. I have been doing this program on my own for the past six months and have found that there is always someone that needs the help. Usually, a client of mine will mention a friend or someone they know in the community. It might be someone caring for a spouse or parent with Alzheimers (caregivers need care too), it might be a single mom or dad who someone who had an injury and is trying their best to stay positive but is struggling with pain, it might be an elderly parent that hasn’t received touch other than by a stethoscope at the doctors office. You get the idea. Of course, I won’t be able to get to everyone that is suggested but I can put their name in the hat of people who are chosen each month.

Why don’t I do a big promotion about this?

First of all, I do not want this to be a marketing ploy so I will not be making this known outside of my immediate circle of family, friends, colleagues, and clients. Furthermore, I need to vet my clients, all of my clients myself. There is a matter of my personal safety and staying within the scope of my knowledge. There will never be a shortage of people in the community who need care so I am confident finding someone to give this gift to will not be a challenge.

What if there are extra funds left over at the end of the month?

No worries, if I can’t schedule another person in, it will carry over to the following month. What if there aren’t enough funds to cover a full hour or massage? No worries there either. I will donate a half hour if at least a half hour is covered. It will all work out.

How do you participate?

You can chip in when you are in for your own appointment, you can go online and make a donation or you can mail a check. It is really quite simple. Just let me know that it is for the Touch of Kindness program and I will earmark it. It is very simple.
