Be Your Own True Love
Valentine’s Day can bring on different feelings for different people. Whether you are over-the-moon in love with your sweetheart and looking forward to February 14th or you are feeling lonely or even a bit angry, both are totally valid. I enjoy expressing love to those who are special in my life, I even send my mom a card that will make her smile and remind her that I love her. There are many types of love but the way that most of America approaches Valentine’s Day is concerning. There is too much pressure to be coupled up and romantic. Also, we can celebrate love any day of the year. How about we shift some of this thinking to something more meaningful than placing all of our value on our relationship status.
SELF-CARE ALL YEAR
Imagine how delightful it would be to choose mid-February as a time to increase your self-compassion and ease into soothing self-care for the entire year. There are many forms of self-care and maybe you have already set goals for January 1st but now you are feeling like adding one more thing to that list would be too dang much. Or maybe you understand that self-care is important but you feel guilty or selfish making this a priority in your life. You do not need to ask permission to take care of yourself, if you are in a relationship or if you are the caregiver or someone else. It is likely that it is even more important and self-care can be all sorts of things so start with something that doesn’t feel like a burden but instead start with something you look forward to.
YOU MATTER
Let me tell you that you do not need to be in a relationship to have value, to matter.
If it sounds nice to step away from your obligations and carve out time just for you, schedule a 90-minute session with me. There is nothing like receiving a full-body head to toe massage nestled in soft blankets on a heated table with beautiful music where your comfort and nurturing is the entire goal.
BECOME YOUR OWN TRUE LOVE
If you’re ready to become your own true love and embrace the practice of self-care, there are specific steps you can take to get started and develop a practice that can transform your mind, body, and soul. My suggestion is to get them on your calendar and to commit to yourself. Here is a list to get you started. I encourage you to post your own ideas in the comments below.
