Because you want to receive one-on-one care by a therapist that looks forward to coming to work and who appreciates you. I have a loyal following of clients that prove to be a testimony to my skills and their satisfaction. As one of my clients, you will receive great care, your needs will be listened to and respected. I will always do my best to keep up to date on current research and therapies as well as recommendations by the Department of Health. I was practicing a high level of sanitation precautions before the COVID19 recommendations were in effect.
HELLO! I AM MARILENE RICHARDSON –
LICENSED MASSAGE THERAPIST, REGISTERED HYPNOTIST, CLINICAL HERBALIST & OWNER OF BODY TEMPLE WELLNESS.
From childhood, I experienced many things that are considered alternative healing and natural living as part of my everyday life. My memories of bathing rituals, massage and home remedies that my mother brought from the Japanese country-side are ingrained in my very soul. I learned from a very young age that caring for your body and mind would have positive and long-lasting results.
Back in the late 1980s, I studied as an aesthetician at the Paul Mitchell Academy and learned more about the importance of healthy skin and body care products. I then went on to create an entire personal care line of natural products, SongCroft Naturals. SongCroft Naturals had a retail and spa line that sold across the country for more than a decade.I retired that part of my life to spend more time with my family.
I have earned my Massage Therapist license through the Northwest Healing Arts Academy, a certification in hypnotherapy approved by the American Board of Hypnotherapy and completed an Advanced Professional Herbalist Certification through Karta Purkh Singh Kalsa. Combining therapeutic massage, wellness coaching, hypnotherapy and clinical herbalism allows me to work with clients and other health care providers to reach patient goals. I have taken a massive amount of continuing education classes ranging from Medicinal Cannabis with Michelle Sexton through Bastyr to Palliative Care Massage with the Santa Fe Massage School in conjunction with the University of New Mexico.
MY LIFE
People sometimes ask me to share a bit more about my personal life so I’ll share some of that here. I have been married to my best-friend Bri for more than 27 years. We have two children together. Our kids grew up with cloth diapers, attachment parenting, playing on the farm and eating organic whole foods. We have enjoyed hiking, camping and volunteering in our community together. We are lucky to have kids that enjoy spending time as a family. My favorite foods are blueberries and cherries but I also love halibut. I love world music, sacred music from many faiths (I love listening to people sing/play from their souls), working the land, my dog and cats and living a rather simple life. My life goal is to be an old woman that is able to look my children in the eyes and be able to say I did my best to be a good person, to contribute to society in a helpful way and to live light on this planet. My favorite quote is, “Live simple so others might simply live.” Oh, and I am obsessed with octopus and monkeys because…awesome!
Our family is committed to making a positive difference in the global community. We grow much of our own food, practice permaculture and homesteading skills in our daily lives, and we even built our own home, ourselves, using many local and reclaimed materials.
The cute guy in the photo is my husband for 27+ years, Brian.
