Today I am going to share some ways to help you cool down during this record heat wave.
If you are like most people in Snohomish, you don;t have air conditioning because it never really gets this hot. That makes it hard for some people to adapt to. Heat can be exhausting as well as dangerous for certain populations. Try my ideas out and post below on how they work for you.
Let me start by explaining that summer time is the Pitta season. It is when our “fire” tends to be hottest. We might suffer from more inflammation and symptoms associated with inflammation. Here are some tips that can help lower your Pitta/Heat/Fire.
First of all, stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water and if you drink coffee, soda or tea, drink twice as much water as any of those beverages.
Eat cooling foods like cucumber, celery, lemons, limes or melon. You can juice them, chop them into salads or eat them as is. Cucumber and celery really are two of my favorite anti-inflammatories and are great for cooling us from the inside out when we eat them.
Another thing you can do is to lie down and place cucumber slices on your inner ankles (gulpha marma) the small indented area between your main ankle bone (medial malleolus) and your heel. With your palm face-up, place another two slices on the center of your wrists (where your palm meets your forearm). And place another two cucumber slices on your eyelids. You might also want to place a cool cloth on your forehead and another one on the back of your neck. These points will help to cool you.
Spritz rose water on your belly, face and chest. Rose is hydrating and anti-inflammatory. It can also prove to be calming and soothing which goes nicely with the irritation that sometimes comes with being too hot.
You might be surprised how effective these simple method are.
Post below and let me know if these tips helped you and share your own for your Snohomish neighbors to benefit from. Thanks and have a blessed day.
P.S. Schedule yourself for a soothing massage at Body Temple Wellness and Massage in Historic Downtown Snohomish. My studio is comfortably cool.
